Most doctors know very little about mold illness. Many doctors give no credence to mold-related symptoms. But if you've ever lived in a home with toxic mold, you know how your body may have reacted to the environment:
- fatigue
- muscle weakness
- coughs
- rashes
- flu like symptoms
- asthma
- depression
- light sensitivity
- vertigo
The lists goes on and on.
So what is mold illness?
Mold illness is a response that some people have to mold. It could be a response to a prevalence of toxic mold in a home. It could be a response to a certain strain of mold (not necessarily toxic). What makes this even more complicated is that you could have five people living in your household and only one person is getting sick from mold. Each person's body responds differently to different molds.
The key thing to consider is this: pay attention to your mold symptoms, when they happen, how severe they are and keep track of your symptoms. Be sure to get to a physician and explain your concerns. If your doctor has no experience with mold illness, ask to be referred to a doctor who does. If you suspect mold illness, it's very important that you connect with a physician who can further investigate your symptoms and get to the root cause of them.
