When your home has mold, the first thing you want to do is get the problem fixed.
But who do you call?
What service are they going to provide? What questions do you need to ask?
And how much is this going to cost?
Here are 4 questions to ask before you hire a mold inspector:
1) Are you certified?
2) Are you insured?
3) How long have you been in business?
4) Do you have referrals?
#1- Certification
When hiring a mold inspector, you want to be sure that the person you hire is a certified mold inspector who has passed a certification exam through NAMRI (National Association of Mold Remediators and Inspectors).
#2- Insured
Any mold specialist should be well insured. Be sure to ask if the inspector is insured and for how much.
#3- Length of time in business
You want a mold inspector who's been in business for least a year. More importantly, you want a knowledgeable mold inspector with a number of years of experience. Be sure to ask your mold inspector both the number of years of mold experience as well as the number of years in business.
#4- Referrals
Ask for a minimum of three client referrals with both email address and phone number. Be sure to reach out to these contacts and get their assessment of the work the mold inspector did for them.
At the end of the day, the more questions you ask upfront, the greater the likelihood that you'll choose a knowledgeable, highly qualified mold professional.
